The need for teachers to analyze whether the textbook used applies learning approach demanded by the curriculum starts to raise. The teachers should be always well prepared facing curriculum including the learning approach and textbooks changes by time goes by. Thus, they should be critical and creative once they found the lack of textbook provided by the government.

The aim of textbook analysis subject is to prepare pre-service teachers to be able to analyze  a good textbooks. The textbook can also fulfill the criteria of a good textbook based on  the experts' criteria. The criteria are used to be analyzed are from Harmer, Mukundan, BSNP, readibility reading levels from various formula. They should also can analyze the textbooks based on the question of task based on HOTS and LOTS of Revised Bloom' Taxonomy. In addition, it can be viewed from genre, cultural content and sexism aspects.
